Welcome to Great Yarmouth
The Norfolk Coast and Dorset are two of the most visited seaside resorts in the UK. Great Yarmouth is one of the most busy family friendly holiday destinations with long sandy coast and lots for all the family to do.
Great Yarmouth sits on the east coast of Norfolk about eighteen miles east of Norwich. Amazingly Great Yarmouth has been a coastal resort since 1760, and also amazingly it has something in common with a small Scottish village hundreds of miles away called Tarbert (Loch Fyne), they both have been dependant on herring fishing at one time or another.
The town of Great Yarmouth has a very popular golden sandy beach and two promenades. Two piers exist at Yarmouth - Britannia and Wellington. There is also a horse racing track. Great Yarmouth also has a leisure centre which includes a large swimming pool.
The climate here at Great Yarmouth during the summer, despite the general consensus of high rainfall in the UK and cold summers is actually very good. The skies are often blue and it is very sunny alot of the year generating good temperatures. It is very easy to get sunburnt even here, especially if you have fair skin.
The beaches in Great Yarmouth were awarded a blue flag in 2006 for Great Yarmouth and Gorleston.
Off of the beach, the 'Golden Mile' offers a wealth of thrills and attractions for all the family. If you prefer somewhere quieter there are always Merrivale model village which has houses of all different types, a mini circus, and running model trains. Its a great day out for all the family. There are even museums and art exhibitions throughout the year for you to enjoy.
There will be much more information on Great Yarmouth here in the very near future. Please look back regularly for more.
